Well yesterday the sports light lit up for about 2 seconds (it didn't flash as usual it just stayed lit ) until I took my foot off the gas and the light went out and it didn't come back on for the rest of the day. When the light stayed lit it felt as if the car wasn't accelerating at all at the time the light was on and when the light went off it accelerated normally. Now this doesn't happen when the sports light is flashing. Has anyone experienced this problem before or know what it could be? Chrysler . How to Take Scuff Marks Off of Car PaintIf your car has scuff marks or scratches in the paint, you can take your car to a body shop or you can get the equipment to buff out the scuffs yourself. Doing it yourself requires some physical labor, so be ready to have sore muscles if you have not done this before. It may also take a few tries before you are comfortable enough to try it on your car. You may want to use a test panel first to get the hang of buffing scuff marks out of your car paint. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need 1/2 sheet, 2000-grit sandpaper Sponge pad Spray bottle filled with water Rubbing compound Buffer pad Clean towel Step by Step : 1 Wash your car. If there is dirt on the car, it could scratch the paint more. The buffer pad will pick up the dirt. 2 Spray clean water on the scuffed area. Wrap 1/2 sheet of 2000-grit sandpaper around a sponge pad. With a back-and-forth motion, sand the affected area. Spray with water frequently, keeping both the sandpaper and the scuffed area wet. Frequently rinse the area. Sand until the scuffs are almost gone. If you hear a squeaking sound, you may have grit between the paper and surface. Rinse well if you have grit locked between the paper and the car. 3 Apply rubbing compound to the sanded area. Spread the rubbing compound around with the buffer pad, making sure not to turn the buffer on yet. 4 Turn the buffer on to slow speed so that the rubbing compound is not thrown from the surface. Buff at 2,000 RPM for a couple of minutes, and you'll see a haze appear on the paint. Continue buffing until the area is shiny. 5 Wash the newly buffed area with a clean towel or wash your car as you would normally. Tips & Warnings Wipe off all rubbing compound with a cloth. Paper towels are too abrasive. You may want to cover niche areas with masking tape. If you get any rubbing compound on areas that may be difficult to clean, use a toothbrush immediately to get it off. Don't let the buffer stay in one spot. Finesse is better than force.
Chrysler . How to Feather Car Paint PatchesAs any auto detailer can tell you, getting new car paint to match the original car color presents one of the biggest challenges in fixing dings and scratches. It often looks out of place if you dab it on a scratch or two, even if you get the paint designed specifically for that color and model of car. The way you get around this is to feather the paint. This process fools the eye into thinking the car is a uniform color. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Masking tape Newspaper Sponge Respirator Primer Airbrush Canned air Car paint Paint thinner Scrap metal Step by Step : 1 Prepare your car for painting by masking off any portions you do not want painted. This means covering the windows, mirrors, tires and chrome parts with newspaper and masking tape. Be as precise in your masking as you can. 2 Rinse your car with water using a sponge to clean it of any grime. Use car clay and clay lubricant if your car has a lot of grime. Sand the scratched area with 280 grit sandpaper using short, circular motions. 3 Put your respirator on and spray over the sanded surface with a can of spray-on auto primer. 4 Attach the can of compressed air to your airbrush hose. Fill the airbrush's pigment cup with car paint identical to that of your car. Most factory auto paints have a specific identification number that you can use to track down the proper paint. Auto stores carry a wide variety of the most common car paints. You will likely have to dilute your paint with airbrush thinner, but the amount depends on the kind of paint and the pressure of your airbrush. 5 Attach the pigment cup to your airbrush. Some airbrushes have metal cups that attach on top of the brush while others have a screw-on container underneath. Test your diluted paint on a piece of scrap metal before applying it to your car. 6 Hold your airbrush 6 inches from the scratch and squeeze the trigger. Your airbrush should emit a fine spray over the area. Start the spray over a piece of newspaper and use a brushing or sweeping motion to move it across the primed area. If you have a double action airbrush you can vary the strength and width of the spray by varying the pressure you place on the trigger. Gently sweep it back and forth over the scratch in an even motion, working it back and forth until you have covered the primed area. 7 Work your way out from the scratched portion, radiating out across the body of the car using quick, sharp motions. As you do so, pull the airbrush back away from the car so the mist of paint covers a broad area and forms a thin paint layer, allowing some of the original coat to show through. This is known as feathering the paint. For one scratch, you may end up working on an entire quadrant or half of a car. The broader the area you cover, the more likely it is to blend in. 8 Rinse your airbrush and the pigment cup with water, flushing all of the internal parts to clean out any paint. Tips & Warnings Do not inhale the car paint. Work with an OSHA-approved respirator in a well ventilated area. *On the other hand, touching up a small spot with a little bottle of touch-up paint is easy. Before you start the job, mask the surrounding area well and use even, sweeping strokes to apply the paint. (Follow the directions on the can carefully.) Practice on a piece of scrap metal before you tackle the car, and don't expect the results to look terrific. 1. To find the right paint color you need, look on the firewall of your car — you should see a little plate with the body number and paint code number on it. If you can't find the paint code number, consult your owner's manual or ask your mechanic or car dealer to point it out to you. 2. Buy a little bottle of touch-up paint that matches the code number at the parts department of a dealership representing the auto-maker that produced your vehicle. If that's not possible, try a professional auto paint supply house. They're also often good sources of semiprofessional advice. If neither source is available, your local auto supply store should have a chart that indicates the proper paint to match your car's make, model, and year. These little bottles of paint usually come with a brush or applicator in them. You also need a small bottle of primer, unless the paint specifies that it doesn't require it. 3. Make sure that the area is rust-free. If the damage is only a deep scratch or a tiny spot, you may need just a dab of rust arrestor to stop the rust from continuing to form under the new paint. If the area is any larger, you must remove all the rust carefully, following the directions in the earlier section called "Dealing with any rust you find." 4. Sand the spot carefully with a tiny bit of #220 sandpaper to rough up the surface so that the primer adheres properly. Work in teeny dabs, feathering the edges and working inward from the surrounding area to avoid enlarging the spot. 1083

Wash the area thoroughly to remove any rust arrester, dust, dirt, filler residue, and wax; then let the area dry completely before you go any further. Primer is used to seal the surface of the metal against rust (caused by air and moisture) and to provide a surface for the paint to adhere to. Primer also fills in tiny holes and imperfections in the surface. The paint then protects the primer from the sun, dust, and heavy weather. And, as you know, wax protects the paint. If you're dealing with a surface scratch or a chip that hasn't gone down to the bare metal, you can probably get away with simply applying the paint. But never apply paint to bare metal. If any metal is exposed, or if the spot is larger than a fraction of an inch, prime the area first. 6. Use a tiny brush or a matchstick to apply the primer sparingly. You shouldn't need more than a drop to cover the damaged area. Avoid getting primer on the original paint. If you do, wipe it off immediately. Let the primer dry thoroughly before going on with the job. If you used glazing putty to fill the dent, you can probably paint right on top of it without priming first. 7. Mix the paint in the bottle thoroughly to blend the color pigments properly. Unless your car is very new, the color probably won't match exactly (which is another reason for keeping the area as small as possible). The paint on new cars doesn't fade as quickly or badly as old paints did. Chrysler . How do you remove a sedona steering wheel?
Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. * 8. Apply the paint, covering the surface of the spot completely, working inward from the edges. If you're painting a scratch or a very small area, you can cut down the brush or use a matchstick or toothpick instead. The paint should be no thicker than the surrounding surface or it will show, run, bubble, or peel off. 9. Wait several days for everything to dry completely, and then polish the car to blend in the painted area and bring everything to a high gloss. 10. Give the car a coat of wax or polymer to protect your hard work. Chapter 23 has instructions for polishing and waxing. Chrysler . What connects a car wheel?

If the interior or trunk gets wet when you wash the car or when it rains, use a garden hose to locate the areas on the weather-stripping that have been letting the water in. If the car windows whistle when you drive with them closed, check the weather-stripping for the cause of the sound effects. The piece should be the same shape and thickness and should have holes, channels, and rubber studs on the inner side that match the ones on the original. 2. Remove any screws and gently peel off the old weather-stripping, prying any rubber studs out of the holes they're inserted in without damaging the paint or scratching the metal window trim.
